Mr Chew Hua Seng is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Raffles Education Corporation Limited (REC). Under his astute leadership, REC has grown to become one of Asia’s largest private tertiary education providers with 33 institutions in 30 cities across 13 countries in the Asia-Pacific region as at end March 2012. Mr Chew holds directorship in several companies, including being the Board Director of Raffles Iskandar Sdn Bhd.

Mr Chew has led REC to achieve a strong track record of growth since founding the Group in 1990. Apart from leading the Group through its initial public offering of the Singapore Stock Exchange in 2002, the Group was ranked amongst the Top 200 Asia-Pacific companies on Forbes Asia’s “Best Under a Billion” list for four consecutive years under his keen leadership. Mr Chew holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the then University of Singapore and was awarded the National University of Singapore Business School Eminent Business Alumni Award for his outstanding achievements. He is a Board Member of Donghua University Foundation and is also Vice President of the China Textile and Fashion Education Society.

Mr Chew established the Chew Hua Seng Foundation in 2007 to further charitable causes, predominantly in education with the motto “Compassion Through the Generations”. Conferred the Public Service Medal by the President of the Republic of Singapore for his contribution to community service in 2010, Mr Chew has aligned the Foundation’s mission with REC’s overarching principle to provide the invaluable gift of education to needy students in the Asia-Pacific region.

Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim

A native Johorean and dynamic property development virtuoso, Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim took over the helm of Iskandar Investment Berhad on 1 November 2010. A veteran in developing urban communities, Datuk Syed Mohamed’s role as CEO includes overseeing the strategic planning and development of the catalytic projects in Iskandar Malaysia and collaborative efforts with federal and state agencies, global partners and other key players.

The mandate of Iskandar Investment is to imbed within Iskandar Malaysia, the designated economic growth corridor at the southern tip of the country, strategic projects to propel the 550,000 acre conurbation to an international standard city-region by 2025. With his innovative approach coupled with extensive real estate development experience, Datuk Syed Mohamed plays a pivotal role as the guiding hand in taking the first wave of catalyst projects operational in 2012.

Datuk Syed Mohamed served as Group Director of Property & Infrastructure at DRB-Hicom Berhad before taking on his current role with Iskandar Investment. As Chief Operating Officer of Knowledge Economic City Developers, he successfully led the development of the Knowledge Economic City, Madinah in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. During his tenure as CEO of TH Properties Sdn Bhd, Datuk Syed Mohamed conceptualized, repositioned and successfully turned around the smart township@Enstek in Negri Sembilan, Malaysia. Previous to that, he spearheaded the establishment of Sime Darby’s second property arm, Sime Darby Land.

Datuk Syed Mohamed sits on the boards of several companies and is a Board Director of Raffles Iskandar Sdn Bhd.

Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad
Chief Operating Officer - Iskandar Investment Berhad


Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad is the Chief Executive Officer of Education@Iskandar, a subsidiary of Iskandar Investment and Acting Head, Technology & Innovation at Iskandar Investment. Khairil graduated with a Civil and Environmental Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Strategic Management from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. He is also a registered Professional Engineer.

Khairil comes from a background in engineering, construction, property development and credit management, starting his career as an Assistant Resident Engineer at the National Electricity Board, before moving on to a management position at Lankhorst Pancabumi Contractors. He then joined the Business Development Division at Kinta Kellas PLC, which was part of the the Renong Group of Companies. Following on, he spent ten years at the Malaysia Building Society where he held several positions including Head of the Asset Restructuring Department, Head of the Risk Management Division, and Assistant General Manager of the Credit Management Division (Corporate Debt Recovery) before joining RSP as the Director for the Engineering Consultancy practice until 2007 when he was recruited by Khazanah Nasional as part of the start-up team for the development of Iskandar Malaysia.

Khairil is reponsible for the development of Education and Technology & Innovation related initiatives undertaken by Iskandar Investment. He sits on the boards of several companies and is a Board Director of Raffles Iskandar Sdn Bhd.

Ms Doris Chung Gim Lian
Director of Operations - Raffles Education Corporation Limited


Ms Doris Chung was appointed as the Director of Operations and Human Resources for Raffles Education Corporation Limited (REC) in February 2000, to oversee the overall operational efficiency and human resource needs of REC.

Ms Doris Chung is also the Director of Raffles K12 Sdn Bhd and is responsible for the management of the Raffles American School.

Ms Doris Chung had prior experience at LaSalle KL and Raffles LaSalle Singapore when she first joined REC in 1992 as the Administration Manager, handling student services, programme scheduling and human resource needs.

She is currently a Director of Raffles Design Institute Pte Ltd and Raffles Design Institute Sdn Bhd. She is also a Board Director of Raffles Iskandar Sdn Bhd.

Mr Chong Ee Yong
Executive Director - Raffles Education Corporation Limited


Mr Chong Ee Yong joined RafflesEducationCorp in July 2004 as Director (Mergers & Acquisitions) and was subsequently appointed Vice President overseeing the Group's operations in Asia-Pacific (ex-China). Mr Chong has extensive experience in setting up, managing and restructuring business operations. In addition to Business Development at RafflesEducationCorp in Asia- Pacific, he also oversees the Group's Finance functions. Mr Chong joined the Ministry of Defence, Singapore upon his graduation from the Royal Military College, Duntroon, UNSW, Canberra, Australia with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) Degree. He also holds a Master of Science (Finance) Degree from Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business.

His past appointments include establishing and managing operations abroad for multi-national companies including Singapore Technologies, JIT Electronics, Flextronics Plastics and Hyflux Ltd.
